names of sons of Israel (Reuven, Shimon, Levi, Judah, Issakhar, Zevulun, Binyamin, Dan, Naftali, Gad, Asher) who came to Egypt, 70 souls came out of loins of Yaakov and Yosef was already in Egypt, generation of Yaakov's 12 sons passes then new Pharaoh feels threatened by Children of Israel's growth and enslaves them, Hebrew midwives avoid following order to kill newborn boys, Pharaoh commands his people to throw all new sons into the river, a Levite couple hides their new baby boy for 3 months then places him in a basket among reeds of riverbank, Pharaoh's daughter finds the boy and draws him out of the water then lets his sister summon his own mother to nurse him, Pharaoh's daughter names the boy Moshe/Moses and raises him as her own, Moshe tries to help his mistreated Hebrew brethren by killing an Egyptian taskmaster but they do not trust him, Moshe flees then meets priest of Midian and marries his daughter Tziporah who gives birth to Gershom, God hears moaning of Israel, while guiding Yitro's sheep towards Horeb Moshe sees burning bush that is not consumed, God manifests to Moshe first as fire then as angel then as voice, God sends Moshe to deliver His people from Egypt in His Name, God gives Moshe signs of staff-snake hand-leprous river-blood to rally the people, Moshe doubts his own ability so God assures His presence and appoints Aaron to do the speaking, Yitro supports Moshe's return to Egypt, Tziporah circumcises their son on the way, Aaron meets Moshe then speaks his words from God and the people believe, Pharaoh refuses Moshe & Aaron's request to let God's people go to worship in the wilderness, Pharoah increases burden on the people, children of Israel blame Moshe & Aaron, Moshe complains to God, God tells Moshe that Pharaoh will send them out

Yitro priest of Midian hears what HaShem has done for Israel, Yitro brings Moshe's family (wife Tziporah & 2 sons Gershom & Eliezer), Moshe tells Yitro what Hashem has done for Israel then Yitro rejoices and gives offerings to God, Yitro advises Moshe to appoint leaders to help him judge the people, Israel arrives at Sinai in 3rd month after leaving Egypt, God promises that they will be treasured holy nation and kingdom of priests if they obey covenant, HaShem directs them to prepare for 3 days and not touch the mountain, revelation of God in shofar & thunder & flames & smoke, Israel hears God speak עשרת הדברות the 10 commandments/utterances (אנכי only one God - לא יהיה no idols - לא תשא no using the Name in vain - זכור את remember Shabbat - כבד את honor parents - לא תרצח no murder - לא תנאף no adultery - לא תגנב no stealing - לא תענה no lies - לא תחמד no coveting), people feel overwhelmed by direct contact with God and ask Moshe to speak as intermediary, HaShem instructs Moshe to warn the people about idolatry and teach them how to build proper altar with natural stones
