I've been learning more about why Jews don't believe in Jesus. They have some valid points about Messianic end times prophecy not yet fulfilled, Tanakh (OT) scripture misquoted or taken out of context, and inconsistencies in the Brit Chadashah (NT). Yet the message and impact of Yeshua remains. Please consider:
Yeshua - did not have Davidic lineage through a biological father - was not anointed earthly king - did not regather tribes of Israel to their land and rebuild physical Temple - did not usher in political kingdom of God on earth and world peace
Yeshua - was seed of a woman with Davidic lineage - predicted his own death, resurrection, and return - did many miracles expected of Messiah - taught Torah with great wisdom - brought the light of the knowledge of God to the world
Yeshua - as Lamb of God fulfilled the Torah system of blood sacrifice - however, in the Tanakh, blood sacrifice is not the only way given by God for atonement and does not cover sins which require personal repentance and restitution to others
Yeshua - as living eternal Word of God - writes Torah on hearts - builds spiritual Temple of believers with indwelling Holy Spirit - lights our way
נֵר-לְרַגְלִי דְבָרֶךָ
וְאוֹר לִנְתִיבָתִי
תהילים קיט:קה
"Your Word is a lamp to my feet,
and light to my path."
Psalms 119:105
Religious Jews are concerned about many Jews drifting away from Judaism, but often seem even more bothered when they develop faith in Yeshua. It often sounds like they're saying:
"Beware of the frying pan (Christianity)!
Get back into the pot (Jewish religious observance)!"
Let's join together to free Yeshua from misunderstanding by both Jews and Christians. Let's explore scripture seeking truth rather than trying to prove our points. This opens us to new depths and heights and horizons of revelation.
גַּל־עֵינַ֥י וְאַבִּ֑יטָה
נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת מִתּוֹרָתֶֽךָ
תהילים קיט:יח
"Open my eyes and I will perceive,
wonders from Your Torah."
Psalms 119:18
Let's embrace both understanding and mystery as we journey together in the Word, growing in knowledge of and faith in our Creator.
קָר֣וֹב יְ֭הוָה לְכָל־קֹרְאָ֑יו
לְכֹ֤ל אֲשֶׁ֖ר יִקְרָאֻ֣הוּ בֶאֱמֶֽת
תהילים קמה:יח
"HaShem is near to all who call upon Him,
to all who will call upon Him in truth."
Psalms 145:18
When God calls in Word and Spirit, let's answer:
הנני!
"Hineni!"
Here am I!
Do we want to:
cook up religious constructs in our own kitchens?
or
walk together with God in the eternal garden?
